Circular economy

  • Circular economy

The circular economy is one of the cluster's three priority strategic areas

These priority areas have been selected to meet the global challenges of the digital and ecological transition, by facilitating the development of smart, safe and sustainable products.

The Polymeris cluster provides support and guidance to help French companies establish their position in the ecological transition and circular economy. These actions include targeted monitoring of calls for projects, providing advice on drafting European applications and offering opportunities for networking and sharing of experience. Companies are also given access to the cluster’s extensive network of partners in France and Europe, and thus can organise competitiveness consortia and offer innovative solutions.

What are the priorities for Phase V?

Develop new recycled and/or biosourced raw materials from post-consumer or industrial waste.

Discover some of the projects supported by the cluster. These actions meet objective 3 of the France 2030 plan "Decarbonize our industry by reducing our GHG emissions by 35%".

Mechanical and chemical recycling

Development of new technologies for separating materials from end-of-life products through both mechanical and chemical recycling.

REPLEN project

New sorting routes

More accurate sorting and better efficiency with new capacity installations (e.g. by triboelectricity).

Recycling of composites

Collaboration with other clusters (Team2, AV) to promote the knowledge and deployment of new industrial sites.

Research of new solutions

In connection with the regulatory aspects of EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility) for example: solvolysis, particularly concerning products made of composite materials.

Decarbonizing through the development of new mobilities

Discover some of the projects supported by the cluster. These actions are in line with objectives 4 and 5 of the France 2030 plan: "Produce nearly 2 million electric and hybrid vehicles by 2030" and "Produce the first low-carbon aircraft".

Our members are and are becoming key players in the challenges of new hybrid, electric or hydrogen vehicles.

Hydrogen storage

Development of materials required for hydrogen storage tanks with notable focus on membranes (liners), structural parts (Hexcel), as well as transport or sealing systems (RAIGI), or bipolar plate exchangers (Clayens);

Lightening

The composite industry makes a significant contribution to the lightening of vehicles and therefore to the reduction of CO² emissions

The cluster's key actions

These actions meet objective 3 of the France 2030 plan "Decarbonize our industry by reducing our GHG emissions by 35%".

European S3 Congress on the Circular Economy for Polymers

The Plastic Congress “S3 - Safe, Smart, Sustainable” brings together academic actors, industrialists, technical centers to address the topics of sustainable, smart, and safe plastics.

Plastics recycling

A joint action of Polymeris and the Axelera competitiveness cluster: highlighting the members of the plastic recycling value chain (creation of actor files and consolidation of a directory which will be put online on the websites of the clusters); organization of a recycling conference; encouraging the emergence of structuring projects.

DIS 30 platform

Technology platform dedicated to plastics processing for sustainable, intelligent, and safe plastics by 2030. The platform is the result of a reflection on the circular economy, and its objective is to support companies specializing in packaging in carrying out their R&D projects.

Our European projects in circular economy

You wish that Polymeris accompanies you (Assembly, labeling, opportunity analysis...)? Polymeris is strongly involved in European projects on the themes of circular economy, bio-sourced materials and lightweighting.

Circular Economy
  • Cross-sectoral platform for data exchange and the creation of circular value chains.
    Digiprime project
  • To develop the most complete, free and tailor-made training in Circular Economy for plastics at European level.
    Circvet project
  • New technologies to integrate plastic waste into the circular economy.
    Plastice project
Biobased materials
  • Designing epoxy resins by partially replacing BPA with a lignin-based biomass.
    Viable project
Lightweighting
  • Project with cascade funding to support innovation in advanced materials related to lightweighting.
    Amulet project
  • Technological support for SMEs in the lightweighting sector for the automotive and aeronautical markets
