The ECOLE Project starts!
The new Interreg Alpine Space project ECOLE aims to accelerate the transition to more resource efficient and circular industries in the Alpine region by establishing an integrated model of Ecological Industrial Parks (EIPs) applying the principles of the Circular Economy (CE) not only to the product value chain, but also to the supporting functions. ECOLE will thus enable the Alpine industry to be more competitive and sustainable in the international market, making it more resilient to crises and closer to its territory.
ECOLE's innovative and fully integrated approach is to understand and apply circular economy principles for a resilient, sustainable and circular economy to reduce energy consumption, costs and pollution, as well as to improve and secure value chains and industry resilience.
Promoting a sustainable transnational model of EIP as well as a more integrated transnational strategy of CE will inspire a mindset shift in the quadruple helix communities to enable resilience in Alpine industries and their environment.
The ECOLE project, in which Polymeris is a partner, has a budget of 2,500,000 euros and is funded by the Interreg Alpine Space program. This program aims at transnational cooperation within the framework of the European Union's cohesion policy. National, regional and local actors of the participating countries of the Alpine Space cooperate on various transnational projects.
Polymeris has joined the ECOLE project to support our members of the polymer industry in France towards a circular economy, with the help of regional policies and incentives. To do so, Polymeris will consult at least 2 industrial parks to assess their needs, the diversity of their sectors and the opportunities for circular models. In addition, Polymeris will participate in the assessment and implementation of communities and communication to implement measures towards eco-industrial parks, workshops between stakeholders, companies and industrial park management authorities, public actors and policy makers.
The launch of the project in January 2023 brought together a consortium of 12 partners from academia, industry and research and technology institutes from Germany, Italy, Slovenia, Austria and France.
