POPEX: an innovative regional initiative to meet the challenges of the circular economy.
At the heart of the circular economy, SPHEREX AMC, ASTRA Plastique, GRAHAM Packaging, LEYGATECH, Groupe BARBIER and the Jean Monnet University's public Polymer Materials Engineering research laboratory are joining forces in the POPEX public-private research and development program.
A winner of the regional France 2030 program, POPEX aims to develop, manufacture and market new flexible and rigid packaging, offering an innovative response to environmental challenges. The project, accredited by the POLYMERIS competitiveness cluster, is financed under the 1st IDEMO REGION call for projects, with funding from the French government and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region amounting to 958,900 euros.
About SPHEREX AMC: located in Monistrol-sur-Loire (43), is a SME specializing in the manufacture of masterbatches, compounds and contract work.
About LEYGATECH: based in Haute Loire (43), it specializes in the extrusion and inflation of technical films, mainly for direct contact with food and pharmaceutical applications.
About GRAHAM Packaging: located in St Vulbas, Ain (01), it manufactures and markets multilayer extruded polyolefin bottles for the food and medical markets.
About ASTRA Plastique: a plastics processing company specializing in closures (PE, PP), located in Saint-Georges de Reneins in the Rhône (69). Astra Plastique belongs to the American Berry Global group, world leader in plastic packaging.
