A new material from FuturaMat obtains the "OK Biodegradable Soil" certification.
For over three years, FuturaMat has been working closely with GRIPLAST to develop an innovative solution: a protective sleeve for young shrubs, 100% biodegradable in the soil, with no harmful residue.
The challenge was significant:
- Design a material that could be processed by extrusion,
- Guarantee sufficient mechanical strength,
- Ensure a lifespan of at least 18 months in a terrestrial environment.
This ambitious development was carried out in synergy with the Green Business and Consulting Company (GBCC), whose expertise extends from the formulation of bio-sourced and biodegradable materials, to their implementation, their characterization and their behavior in biotic and abiotic aging, a particularly sensitive issue in the case of protective sleeves.
The result of this collaborative effort was certified in June 2023 by TÜV Austria, according to the OK Biodegradable SOIL standard. This internationally recognized certification validates the complete biodegradation of the material in the soil, without environmental impact, an essential criterion for agricultural or forestry applications.
A demanding label, a first in France
Today, the sleeve developed in France by GRIPLAST is the only protection against game that can boast this demanding environmental certification. A concrete step towards more sustainable solutions for the plant industry.
